I completely get where this idea comes from. But there is currently a code for providing a dressing and a fee associated with this. Now can this legitimately be used when a definitive restoration is planned but when that plan is implementable is somewhat open ended? A change to the SDR narrative would clarify matters but would this just mean more charges to the patient? The value of this is limited unless either the government wish to know how may temp fills we are placing or they set a financial based target. At present they are recording our activity through the 8000 codes, surely this could be enough? Patients are not then penalised financial for the extended waits and we are still showing that we have seen them and presumably assisted them.

I’m worried patients will feel they are paying twice?
Might it encourage dentists to dress everything first before restoring?

    I support the motion,
Especially during a pandemic, with Limited PPE issues, there is still a dentist with no NHS FFP3 mask fit, PPE supply, limitation of AGPs, and limitation on the number of patients that can be seen keeping social distancing and staff grouping as per HSE guidelines.
